Students Excited for State FFA Convention
By Mark Askelson (4/20/17)
Minneapolis, MN -- Students from across the state, including many in our region, are heading to the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities campus on Sunday to take part in the annual State FFA Convention. Most students head down on Sunday and return sometime on Tuesday. They’ll be competing in various CDE’s, or Career Development Events, along with attending workshops, and making new friends. Ada-Borup Sophomore Jared Brainerd will be competing in the Soils event, which provides him with real life skills that he can use outside of the FFA.
Gabe Suda, Sophomore at Norman County West, is taking part in the Ag Sales CDE. Suda says it a fun, challenging, and rewarding event to participate in.
Norman County West Senior Kyle Hellerud is also heading to the State Convention, but his focus will be on obtaining a State Degree, the highest honor a FFA member can receive at the state level. Hellerud says it’s a long process.
Students also have the ability to take part in a talent contest, sing or perform in the FFA Band and Choir, and take part in other activities. Best of luck to the area students that will be participating at the Minnesota State FFA Convenion. We will continue or interviews with area FFA students through the middle of next week.
