(Aitkin, MN) — Today kicks off four days of hunting for the future as the Statewide Youth Firearms Deer Season runs today through Sunday.

DNR conservation officer Bob Mlynar was kind enough to give the need-to-know information before heading into the woods. CO Mlynar spoke about the age requirements for youth to participate in the season.

Adults also have requirements to be with youth hunters during the weekend season.

For the firearms season, youth hunters need to be certified prior to hunting, which the DNR has addressed in recent years.

Adults are not required to have a hunting license when accompanying a youth hunter. CO Mlynar also mentioned purchasing a hunting license during the Youth Firearms Season this weekend.

The Statewide Youth Firearms Deer Season runs Thursday, October 15th through Sunday, October 18th. More information can be found on the DNR’s website and with this story at rjbroadcasting.com.
