Twin Valley, MN — The Norman County East School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, November 9th. The school district currently remains with a hybrid learning model in the high school and full in-person learning in the elementary. While there have been some challenges, Norman County East Superintendent Rob Nudell reported that staff continue to rise to the occasion but are also making plans in case of future changes.
Superintendent Nudell also relayed to the board on some of the additional costs the district has incurred this year due to the pandemic. A majority of it will be covered by CARES funding, but he adds they are still spending a significant amount out of their pocket.
The City of Twin Valley did approve a $5,000 donation to the school to help with the additional costs.
Also discussed at the meeting was Governor Walz’s recent executive order that allows teachers an additional 30 minutes of prep time per day, but Nudell says the order was not very specific on how districts are to implement that prep time into the school day.
The Norman County East School Board also gave the go ahead for the Spanish Club and the Junior Class Prom Committee to go ahead with their annual fundraisers.
