Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, November 9th. Students in the Mahnomen School are continuing for the time being with in-person learning. Mahnomen Superintendent Jeff Bisek says they’ve had some the issues as most district are with positive cases and close contacts, but they have enough space and staff to continue on with their model, even as distance learning students are opting back in to in-person learning.

The Mahnomen School Board made revisions to their 2020-2021 school budget at this week’s meeting. Superintendent Bisek says they able to get a better grasp on enrollment and revenues after the first couple months and their estimates right now are showing a budget surplus of a few hundred thousand dollars.

Under staffing items, the school board did accept the resignation of a paraprofessional this week, but they also approved several new hires as well.

And as the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep through the region, Superintendent Bisek asks Mahnomen community members to avoid high risk situations and mask up to keep students in the school.

The Mahnomen School Board meets on the 2nd Monday of each month.
