Independent School District 361 Superintendent Kevin Grover joined The Morning Show on Tuesday to explain the school board meeting – and vote – the prior night.

The most notable decision Monday night was whether or not to revert to a hybrid learning model after a distance learning model had been announced the previous week. Grover explained that the move had been made in an abundance of caution, and that the board was unable to secure a consultation with an advising body until early Monday afternoon.

Part of the uncertainty in using the general education model guidelines lies in where the county numbers are concentrated. Grover warned that just because Koochiching County numbers may go down, should there be more cases around the school district, the schools still may be forced to distance learning.

The vote to return to the hybrid learning model passed unanimously, 7-0. This decision paved the way for the athletic department to restart. After hearing testimonies from coaches and parents, Grover outlined the decisions surrounding sports.
