(Deerwood, MN) — Even in the time of a pandemic, scams and fraud continues to be an ongoing issue for Lakes residents and Seniors. Cuyuna Area Connections presented multiple ways in avoiding such instances with a special webinar on Wednesday.
Marty Fleischacker, with the Minnesota Department of Commerce, mentioned the numbers of instances that Senior Citizens often fall prey to scammers.
As the news headlines are full with COVID-19, numerous avenues have opened for scammers to reach unsuspecting victims, according to Bill Raker, President/CEO of Firefly Credit Union.
Raker also went into further details on phishing, charity, and contact tracing scams, before offering some ways to protect yourself.
There are also some warning signs that you should be wary of.
If you feel that you have been a victim of one of the multiple scams or frauds, Fleischacker provided ways to protect your assets.
