Crow Wing County Board Approves Budget, Levy for 2021 in December 29 Meeting
(BRAINERD, MN) — The Crow Wing County Board met for their final regular meeting of 2020 on Tuesday, December 29.
Before reaching the headlining item of the agenda – the 2021 budget and levy – county administrator Tim Houle discussed the county’s most recent senior management team meeting. Houle said the team discussed the rollout of vaccines and emphasized that establishing the right priority structure is a key factor for public safety.
Houle then moved on to the 2021 budget and levy, the latter of which presents a 4.97% increase from 2020. The budget and levy resolution was passed unanimously. Board Chair Steve Barrows thanked everyone who took part for their hard work.
Commissioner Paul Koering, however, wanted to make it clear that he didn’t agree with every aspect of the budget, but was overall satisfied with the compromises made.
Commissioner Franzen echoed this sentiment, while administrator Houle pointed out that the fact that there were items that not everyone found agreeable in a budget encompassing roughly $95 million was completely normal.
