Aitkin Public School Board meeting from February 8th

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin Public School Board came together Monday night for their regular board meeting to review policy and hear presentations on the future of the Aitkin School District.
Scott Sosalla of ARI opened to the Board on the Bid Tab results for improvements to the Aitkin School Building.
The Board did approve a base bid to NorSon Construction at a total of $1,105,000 for the improvements to the building. Representatives from Rippleside Elementary including Rene Voller, Shari Grunenwald, Kelly Charkey, and Andy Dokken spoke on Interventions and Programs.
High School Principal Paul Karelis also spoke about Intervention and Programs at Aitkin High School.
The School Board did approve 2nd readings and passage of Transportation of Public Students and Nonpublic Students. Approval was also given for a 2020-21 Lakes & Pines working agreement, Independent Contractor Agreement with Amara Blake for design choreography for the musical, and the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee Resolution.
The Board tabled motions of fund transfers for General Assigned and moved $150,000 from Early Childhood Family Education to School Readiness.
Superintendent Dan Stifter spoke about the Capital Projects Levy and working with another firm.
The Board did approve to move forward with ICS on the land for a new school and Rupp Enterprises will provide strategies for the Levy.
The Aitkin School Board will meet Monday, February 22nd at 7pm for a Work Session.
