Lake Park City Council News & Notes
Lake Park, MN — The Lake Park City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, February 8th. In addition to that they also had a pair of public meetings. One was for the city’s Wellhead Protection Plan and the other related to a new communications provider that will soon be offered in town. As for the Wellhead Protection Plan, Lake Park City Administrator Lonnie Nuener says this public hearing, which revealed no major water contamination concerns, has now capped off that process.
The city council also had a public hearing with Midcontinent, which will soon be offering its internet, phone, and television service to the community.
Currently Arvig is the only available communications provider in the Lake Park community and Nuener hopes having another service in town will create some competition.
Also at this week’s meeting, the Lake Park City Council discussed their fire service contracts with the area townships. Nuener says their current contracts don’t provide enough revenue to meet the needs.
Nuener didn’t believe the area townships would have an issue to an increase to their fire service contracts, but since it’s likely not part of this year’s tax levy it may have to wait until next year.
