Aitkin City Council approve Project bid process, introduced to new officer

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council convened for their second meeting in the month of February Tuesday night from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library. The meeting was moved to Tuesday night as City offices were closed due to the President’s Day holiday.
The Council did approve resolutions for Authorizing and Accepting Funds from the IRRRB and LRIP, supporting paing LGA on Time and In-Full, and a pair of permits for Aitkin United Methodist Church to hold events.
Council member Kathy Galliger did bring up concern from the Consent Agenda the Municipal Maintenance Agreement with Aitkin County for work on CSAH 1, 15, and 41.
The item was tabled until further information can be presented to the Council. City Administrator Rose Beverly cleared up some clerical work for her Administrator’s Report.
The Council was also introduced to one of the newest additions to the Aitkin Police Department, officer Joseph Fuhrmann.
Engineer Phil Martin spoke before the Council on opening up the bid process for the 2021 Projects plans for City streets.
The Council approved the bid process for the 2021 projects. The Aitkin City Council is next scheduled to meet again on Monday, March 1st from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library.
