Northwest Minnesota Foundation Hold Virtual State of the Foundation Address
Bemidji, MN — The Northwest Minnesota Foundation held their annual State of the Foundation event earlier this month to recap another year of giving for the foundation. Despite the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Northwest Minnesota Foundation was able to continue their mission statement of investing resources, facilitating collaboration and promoting philanthropy to make the region a better place to work and live, according to NWMF Communication Specialist Kari Cooper.
Some of those successes Cooper is referring to include establishing 9 new funds (bringing their total funds to 388), and contributing more than $2 million to philanthropic services. The Northwest Minnesota Foundation also awarded just under $900,000 in grants for a variety of needs including, childcare, homelessness, innovation, and COVID-19 relief.
This year’s State of the Foundation event was held virtually as you imagine, but Cooper says by doing so they were able to greatly expand their audience.
Since it’s inception, the Northwest Minnesota Foundation has awarded $44 million in grants and another $30 million in loans, plus created or retained more than 3,200 jobs.
