City of Pierz Approves Loans, Raises Rates on Solid Waste
(PIERZ, MN) — The city of Pierz held its first regular council meeting for the month of March this week, so we spoke with Mayor Dave Fischer to get the latest.
The council approved an extension for a loan with Midwest Processors as part of an agreement that they would be increasing employment numbers.
The council also approved a business assistance gap loan to a couple looking to purchase a business in Pierz that has been around for a long time.
Fischer then discussed the city’s acceptance of a recycling cleanup grant and how it relates to Pierz’s city-wide garage sales coming up later in the spring.
The council heard from the city’s solid waste board, which recommended that they raise rates; the council agreed, and Fischer described the new situation.
Finally, Fischer mentioned that the city approved a resolution to support the Little Falls Community Center.
We thank Mayor Fischer for his time. The city of Pierz will hold its next regular council meeting on March 22. Our full interview with Fischer may be found below.
