Halstad City Council News & Notes from March 8th Meeting
Halstad, MN — The Halstad City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, March 8th. There was no update at the meeting regarding the potential transfer of the former high school facility to the city. However, the city council did discuss some potential uses and next steps for the building when, or if, they ever take possession, according to Halstad Mayor Darin Johnson.
The Halstad City Council did make an appointment to their open council seat. Shirley Weeding will step in to fill that position, which is a 2-year term. The seat was left open after Jessica Spaeth was voted in as the new City Clerk, which after the election became a non-voting, appointed position. Johnson says the transition has gone well so far.
And Spring can be an uneasy time of year for the Halstad community due to flooding. However, Johnson says residents are breathing a little easier this year with little to no flooding concerns in the forecast and as of this week can drop the required flood insurance.
The Halstad City Council meets on the 2nd Monday of each month.
