(Hill City, MN) — The City of Hill City Council held a special meeting Monday morning for finalizing the resignation of Mayor Lonnie Lee, appointing an Interim Mayor, and the next steps for the Council moving forward from City Hall.

After being appointed by his peers to the Interim Mayor role, Sean Lathrop recapped the events of the meeting and the outcome of his now vacant Council seat.

The resignation of Lonnie Lee comes after the March 16th meeting that included an appeal from Lee concerning his residence not being suitable according to City requirements in order to fill the Mayoral role. Lathrop also added that interested Hill City residents can contact City Hall for the necessary paperwork and information for the vacated Council seat.

Now serving as Mayor through 2022, Lathrop and Council are looking ahead at the projects that Hill City has for the betterment of the community.

The City Hall is open once again to the community and interested residents for the open Council seat can call 218-697-2301, and their office hours are Monday-Thursday 8am-4:30pm and Friday from 8am-12pm.

The City of Hill City Council will have their next regular meeting on Tuesday, April 13th at 6pm from the City Hall Community Room.
