(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Historical Society is now opening back up to the public again this Spring. With the Coronavirus Pandemic and social distancing still a factor, there will not be a grand opening celebration.
The new hours of operation include Tuesday-Friday from 10am-4pm October through April; Tuesday-Friday 10am-4pm and Saturday 10am-2pm for May through September.
The Aitkin County Historical Society is also seeking new Board members, both for Officer and at-large positions. Please contact Administrator Heidi Gould at 218-927-3348 or by email.
The Aitkin County Historical Society was founded in 1948. Originally housed in a log building, the ACHS moved into the historic 1916 Northern Pacific Depot in 1973. The Society’s mission is to collect, preserve and share the history of Aitkin County. The museum has a full resource room for research purposes, two buildings of exhibits and displays, and a permanent home at the Aitkin County fairgrounds in the original museum log building, built in 1950.
