(BRAINERD, MN) — This month, Central Lakes College has announced that they are collaborating with the Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center to collect donations to help local women in need. We spoke with Shannon Wussow, the Executive Director of the MMWC, along with Jill Lechner, a faculty member in CLC’s nursing program, and Amy Meyer, the president of the school’s Nursing Club, to talk about this collaboration and what it will bring.

Wussow began by talking about the MMWC and what it’s all about.

Lechner then chimed in by talking about this partnership, how it looks from CLC’s perspective, and why they specifically chose to work with the MMWC.

So far, Lechner says the fundraiser has raised nearly $2,000 in the early going, and it has until the end of April to pump that number up.

Meyer provided the persepective of a nursing student as well, discussing what it means to her to be able to help out an organization like the MMWC locally.

Finally, Wussow talked about how raised funds would be used at the MMWC.

The website to visit for those who wish to donate can be found here. CLC is accepting monetary donations in addition to any items that are listed to be donated. The MMWC Facebook page can be found here.

We thank Wussow, Lechner, and Meyer for their time. Our full conversation with them can be found below.
