Hillsboro Flag Program Returns for 2nd Year
Hillsboro, ND – This summer The City of Hillsboro will once again be colored in Red, White, and Blue with Old Glory spread out throughout town as the Hillsboro Stars and Stripes Flag Project is returning for their second year. The Volunteer project that last year placed over 350 flags in Hillsboro will do so again in 2021 over seven patriotic holidays during the summer and fall including Memorial, Independence, and Veterans Day. Organizer Paul Geray says after the great response last year, he has seen increased interest from community members and hopes to see more flags this year.
According to Geray the flag project was able to donate over $10,000 to local groups in its first year, with $30 of every flag subscription going to those organizations.
Geray says common feedback he has gotten from subscribers is both the “wow factor” of going around town and seeing the flags put up and the and the ease the project allows them to show their pride during patriotic holidays.
Geray adds that they will accept subscriptions at any time but says the sooner the better to allow for assembly and other planning purposes. Forms can be picked up at Paul’s Hometown repair or fond on the Hillsboro Stars and Stripes Facebook page, and can be returned to Paul’s, Dakota Heritage Bank, Sorum Oil, Olsen Hardware, or mailed to the address on the form.
