(Minnesota) — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reminding all anglers to take Mom fishing May 8-9 for “Take A Mom Fishing” Weekend across the State of Minnesota.
The DNR’s annual special weekend allows Minnesota-resident moms to fish without purchasing a license from Saturday, May 8th through Sunday, May 9th.
Minnesota statutes define this weekend that coincides with Mother’s Day. Most years, the fishing opener and Take a Mom Fishing Weekend fall on the same weekend but this year’s opener falls on Saturday, May 15th.
2021 Take a Mom Fishing Weekend will have species open including crappie, sunfish, and under-appreciated fish like buffalo, sucker, bullhead, and sheepshead.
