Mudslingers OHV Provide Update on Agassiz Recreation Trail Maintenance and Safety Reminders
Twin Valley, MN — ATV Trails like the Agassiz Recreational Trail opened up on April 1st and it’s already been quite busy as riders are taking advantage of the early spring. The Agassiz Recreational Trail, otherwise known as the A.R.T., is 52 miles long and stretches from Ulen all the way to Crookston. However, this year as local clubs such as the Mudslingers OHV Club are doing maintenance, they have noticed some of trail’s history as a former railroad showing up. While most have been picked up, Mudslingers President Glen Visser encourages riders to be on the lookout for rail spikes or any other debris that can pop out in the spring.
The ART is a multi-use trail, meaning its open to more than just ATVS and Side-by-Sides. Its not uncommon to encounter horse back riders, bicyclists, and hikers along the trail. Whether you come across someone on another vehicle or horseback, Visser reminds people to move over, slow down, and give each other space.
The Minnesota DNR also recommends maintaining a safe distance when riding with other, reducing your speed at night, avoid alcohol and drugs, and let trail conditions determine safe speeds. For trail maps and more OHV information, go to www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv.
