City of Ada & Dekko Community Center Happy to See Restrictions End
Ada, MN — With the official removal of the mask mandate late last week in Minnesota, it puts an end to essentially all of the COVID-19 restrictions that have been in place for the past year allowing many local establishments to breathe a heavy sigh of relief. In the City of Ada, it’s also big relief for one of their biggest assets: the Dekko Community Center. Ada City Administrator Ashley Larson says with the forced closures, social distancing requirements, capacity limits, and mandated masking, the Dekko Center took a huge hit since last spring.
The Dekko Community Center, as well as the Ada Events Center, lost a significant amount of revenue this past year as a result of the COVID-19 restrictions. Thankfully, Larson says the city of Ada will be receiving around $180,000 from the Biden Administration’s American Rescue Plan that will likely be used to help recover some of those loses.
And while there is no longer a mask mandate, there may be businesses who still chose to require them. Larson asks community members to please be supportive of those who are still requiring it as it is likely for health and safety reasons.
