Minnesota Farm Bureau Ag Policy Update
St. Paul, MN — While Republicans and Democrats in the Minnesota House and Senate don’t agree on much, the one thing that they do appear to agree on is agriculture. Just prior to the adjournment of the regular session, the House and Senate approved a policy only, omnibus agriculture bill. Josie Lonetti, Associate Director of Public Policy with the Minnesota Farm Bureau, says she was pleased to see an agricultural bill passed before the end of session and that it appears both sides have agreements in place for the rest of the omnibus bills.
Lonetti notes that compared to other subjects like police reform and taxes, agriculture for the most part isn’t a partisan issue.
The work isn’t done for the Minnesota legislature, who is expected to return for a special session sometime in June. Lonetti outlines the next steps for legislature.
