Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office See Decrease in Calls for Service, but Increase in Vehicle Pursuits Over Past Year
Mahnomen, MN — According to data from the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, Calls for Service appear to be trending downward over the past couple years. Mahnomen County Sheriff Josh Guenther tallied the data from the first half of each over the past four years and this last year saw a decrease of more than 20%, which he says can be contributed to his officers being proactive in stopping crimes before they happen.
While Calls for Service are down, Sheriff Guenther says they have seen increases in vehicle pursuits and overdoses this past year.
A great addition to the Sheriff’s Office this past year has been their new K-9. Guenther says their K-9 unit has already made several drug busts and tracked down a few suspects as well.
Sheriff Guenther adds that he is also very much looking forward to spending more time with the public this year at community events such National Night Out and local fairs and festivals.
