First Phase of Hillsboro Riverwalk Development Expected to Get Underway Soon
Hillsboro, ND — It won’t be long, and shovels will be in the ground for the City of Hillsboro’s new Riverwalk Housing Development. The Riverwalk Development is a 128-acre community west of I-29 that is split into three phases with the first phase expected to get underway later this summer. The city of Hillsboro has received bids for the infrastructure work and is in the process of reviewing them. Hillsboro Mayor Terry Sando says this development is a huge opportunity for the city, which currently has no residential lots available to build on.
Bids for the infrastructure came in approximately 4% higher than originally estimated but given the increased costs of construction over the past year Sando says that is actually quite reasonable. He also notes that homes in the Riverwalk Development should still be more affordable than those in the other new developments throughout the area.
Mayor Sando hopes that if all goes well, home construction could begin as soon as this fall. Phase 1 consists of 43 residential lots, 17 twin homes, and 6 commercial lots. You can find out more information online at www.riverwalkdevelopment.com.
