Hawley Lions Successfully Kicks Off RodeoFest with Return of Breakfast on the Farm
Hawley, MN — Kasin Farms near Hawley hosted the 20th Breakfast on the Farm over the weekend. Guests to Kasin Farms had a hearty breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausage along with ice cream for a little morning dessert. All the food and beverages were from local producers or donated by many local businesses and served by the Hawley Lions with help from the Hawley FFA Chapter, and the Hawley Highschool Softball Team.
Keith Aakre is the chair for breakfast on the farm and he said they served 2300 people on a very warm Saturday morning.
Attendees also enjoyed displays from different groups and businesses, horse drawn wagon and tractor rides, and the farm animal zoo. Aakre said this event gives folks attending the opportunity to learn what happens on the farm.
Some of that farm equipment included a replica of a 1908 International Harvester. Kermit Nelson brought the replica in hopes to educate people about tractors and the evolution of equipment.
Breakfast on the Farm is the unofficial kickoff to the 62nd Annual Rodeo Fest in Hawley with events throughout the week.
