Hillsboro, ND — The Traill County EDC’s latest round if mini grants appears to have been another success. The Traill County EDC offers matching grants of up to $1000 for beautification and childcare projects to businesses and organizations across the county. Jim Murphy, Traill County EDC Director, says in this latest round they awarded $22,000 to 24 different projects, which will lead to nearly a quarter of million dollars of investments.

The mini grants, according to Murphy, are doing exactly what the program is set up to do, which is incentivize beautification projects and spur economic activity in Traill County.

Murphy also pointed out that improving your building may earn you a break on the taxes you pay using North Dakota’s Renaissance Zone program. Businesses and individuals may qualify for tax incentives for purchasing, leasing or making improvements to property located in a renaissance zone, which is a designated area within a city that is approved by the Department of Commerce Division of Community Services. The tax incentives consist of a variety of state income tax exemptions and credits, and local property tax exemptions. Both the cities of Hillsboro and Mayville have established renaissance zones.
