Mahnomen City Council News & Notes from June 7th Meeting
Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, June 7th. At the meeting, the council held a discussion on an easement and potential land swap to and from the White Earth Nation, according to Mahnomen City Administrator Berg.
The council also welcomed interim City Administrator Kari Kirschbaum, who will fill as Administrator during the process of hiring a new full-time replacement. Kirshbaum, who has been work alongside Berg during the transition for the last couple weeks, says she’s enjoying her role and is looking forward to the next few months.
The Mahnomen City Council recently wrapped up their Strategic Plan work sessions and at this meeting officially adopted their Strategic Plan for the next couple of years, according to Kirschbaum.
The goals identified in the City of Mahnomen’s Strategic Plan include encouraging economic vitality, provide and maintain the community’s infrastructure, increase public safety, and enhance and expand greater community engagement, collaboration, and partnerships.
And the council approved a resolution to accept the coronavirus local fiscal, recovery fund established the American Rescue Plan.
The Mahnomen City Council also approved the sale of a $1,560,000 general obligation bond for their fire hall remodel at a very low interests rate of just 0.35%
