The legislative special session convened on Monday in St. Paul to continue work on completing the two-year state budget.
Budget targets were released a few weeks ago as a roadmap to finish the legislative session. DFLers in the House and Republicans in the Senate are finalizing details of the budget agreement. Though some significant differences remain, House DFLers will continue to focus on rebuilding after COVID-19, improving racial equity, tackling economic disparities and will work With Governor Walz to find common ground With Senate Republicans in order to pass a budget to benefit a” Minnesotans.

Governor Tim Walz has called for a special session, seeking another extension to a peacetime emergency as the state continues to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
There’s also the biennial state budget that is outstanding from the last session.
If that’s not in place by the end of this month, a government shutdown could happen.
Some 38-thousand state employees have already received layoff notices.
