Aitkin County Health & Human Services meets with Board of Commissioners on June 22nd

(Aitkin, MN) — Aitkin County Health & Human Services met with the Board of Commissioners Tuesday afternoon from the Aitkin County Government Center Board Room to review recent activity and grant opportunities.
HHS Director Cynthia Bennett introduced Public Health Supervisor Erin Melz and her recent work the “Tobacco-21” Workshop to mark the one-year anniversary of increasing the tobacco buying age to 21.
Melz also spoke on Public Health’s administration of COVID-19 vaccines and setting up for the Aitkin County fair in July.
Director Bennett gave a Legislative update concerning a government shutdown and its effect on Health & Human Services.
The Board did move to approve the Children’s Mental Health Screening Grant Contract with amendment of updating the individual budget lines that cover actual costs associated with the grant program.
Aitkin County Health & Human Services will meet again with the Board on Tuesday, July 27th.
