(Crosby, MN) — Supporting, Mentoring, Inspiring, Life in Everything or SMILE which aims to reduce the mental health stigma in central Minnesota was awarded a $75,000 grant from Sourcewell to continue their mission of reducing suicide rates, depression, and anxiety.
The SMILE program, which is a creative program with Cuyuna Regional Medical Center and Smiles for Jake, was one of the five proposals funded at Sourcewell’s Community Impact Funding Review Day. The funding will go towards a national suicide prevention program in the Brainerd Lakes Area, host quarterly SMILE sessions, implement a caring letters program, create, and distribute toolkits, and for community awareness activities.
The SMILE program’s goal is to cultivate a regional culture that focuses on being grateful, engaged, content, and establishing quality, and positive relationships in our community.
