130th Aitkin County Fair opens today

(Aitkin, MN) — The 130th annual Aitkin County Fair opens the gates today with four days of fun, activities, and events in store after a one-year absence.
Starting today the Midway with Crescent City Amusements will open at 12pm and remain open all the way through Saturday.
Events for today include Quilt Judging starting at noon with Wine & Beer Judging taking place at 6pm from the Creative Arts Building. Live entertainment will start from Vern Bishop & Friends from 5-8pm from the Watters Pavilion and live music from Mike & Jan Cherry starts at 7pm from the Creative Arts Building.
Throughout the four days, there will be daily demonstrations scheduled in the Creative Activities building. The Grandstand will have the Hobby/Pure Stock, Mod 4’s, Compacts/Hornets, and School Bus Races with pits opening at 4:30pm on Friday, July 9th. 4-H Activities will take place throughout the Blue Ribbon Auction on Friday and the Central Minnesota Cattlemen’s Association 4-H/FFA Beef Show on Saturday, July 10th.
Gate Admission is free with parking at $5 per day on the Aitkin County Fairgrounds in Aitkin.
R&J Broadcasting, Inc will be present throughout the week at the Aitkin County Fair with live interviews, giveaways, and our Hoop Shoot which will give people three chances to make a basket to win a pop for one dollar. Proceeds from the Hoop Shoot will go towards the McGregor Food Shelf. Pop will also be provided by Ukara’s Big Dollar in McGregor.
