Fertile City Council Explains Need for New Special Vehicle Ordinance
Fertile, MN — The Fertile City Council had their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, July 12th where they discussed some recent feedback from their new Special Vehicle Ordinance relating to use of golf carts on city streets. The new ordinance became law on July 1st, but the feedback they’ve received so far has been mostly not positive in nature. Fertile City Administrator Lisa Liden clarifies some of the reasons for the new ordinance and notes that without it, golf carts would not be technically be permitted at all.
The Fertile City Council approved the final payment for their airport runway project. Liden says they’re excited to a have a new and wider runway up and running at their airport.
The council also got an update on the clinic lease agreement with Riverview Health. Administrator Liden says they will be up and operational in the former Altru clinic site in October.
And Liden provided an update on a grant that the Agassiz Environmental Learning Center recently acquired that will provide them with a brand new snowmobile and equipment for grooming their ski trails.
The grant amount was for just over $18,000.
