(Aitkin, MN) — Plans continue to roll forward for the Aitkin County Toward Zero Deaths Coalition to host a “mock crash” later this year, after recapping events from their July meeting Wednesday.
TZD coordinator Amy Dotzler first highlighted their initiative in spreading their message on social media.
Setting up the mock crash for later this fall still hangs in the balance with how restricted Aitkin High School will be.
An official date for a mock crash is yet to be established. TZD and the Minnesota State Patrol are planning a pedestrian safety and enforcement event in September.
The event will take place 1-3pm on September 1st on the crosswalk between the Aitkin County Courthouse and the Aitkin High School Building. Dotzler also added that the month of July is a Speed Enforcement period with the State Patrol and Law Enforcement. Of the people representing local government, media, and law enforcement, Aitkin County Engineer John Welle updated the group on the road work and handful of detours on the well-travelled roads.
Dotzler also added that the annual TZD conference will be taking place October 13-14 in Rochester and will also be held virtually. The Aitkin County TZD Coalition meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month from the Aitkin Police Department building.
