Norman County Raceway Lightning Sprint Summer Shootout Results 8/12/21

29 Lightning Sprints from all across the county made the trip to Noman County Raceway, which was stop #1 of 4 of the Summer Shootout Challenge Series, and they had endured a lightning fast track for 20 laps. Bryce Haugeberg, one of the local competitors, led the first 8 laps before Grant Sexton, who started 8th, buzzed by the lead. The Lakeside, California native paced the field for the rest of the race. He did have to hold off a late race challenge from Colorado’s Chris Crowder during a Green-White-Checkered restart.

Aaron Blacklance had to work his way around tough competition to pick up another win on Thursday. He battled through Brock Gronwold and Reise Stenberg and made his way past leader Matt Schow with 5 to go when Schow left the door open on the bottom and Blacklance drove past.

Point leader Andy Wagner went from wreckers to checkers this week. Wagner was spun on the opening, but narrowly managed to escape without any damage. On the restart, Wagner took advantage of his second life and quickly got to to 2nd. He raced side by side with Landon Maatz before eventually winning the duel and winning the race.

The IMCA Stock Cars were again the talk of the night. Trent Grager got a great jump on the field, but Kalvin Kesselberg eventually caught up working the bottom lane. But just as Kesselberg was making his run, Rob VanMil managed to sneak underneath him to take away the 2nd spot an begin working on Grager. VanMil used the entire track to try and gain some momentum. With two to go, Grager and VanMil were side by side for the lead, but VanMil got by and got the win.
