Fertile, MN — The Fertile City Council held their regular monthly meeting last Monday, August 9th. At the meeting, the council discussed options for repairs for the dasher boards on the outdoor skating rink. Fertile City Administrator Lisa Liden says the boards, which were purchased used, took some abuse from pucks and skates and could use some updates.

The cost for the fiberglass replacement boards is around $22,000, which is roughly what the city of Fertile paid for the entire skating rink kit. Liden said they hope to have them in place before this winter.

The Fertile City Council also last week approved some updates to their city signage to recognize the recent accomplishments of their State Champion golfers.

During the Department Reports, the council discussed and approved a tractor rental for Public Works. Administrator Liden says for the amount of hours they will use it for, it should be a cost savings for the city.

And Liden provided the council with an update on the Special Vehicle Permits that are now required for operating golf carts and UTVs on city street. She says both residents and non-residents are buying them up!

The Fertile City Council also approved new City Hall hours of 8am until 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
