Fosston, MN – The first annual Fosston Kids Track & Field Night was held last Monday, August 23rd at the Fosston Track. Jacob Vossler, who set up the event with his wife, spoke about the large number of kids who showed up. 70 children participated in the track & field night, with events ranging from a softball throw to races for pre-k to 8th grade. Ribbons were given out to top heat and event performances. Parents were also invited to take part in the “masters” mile run that was held at the end of the night. Vossler says that families from around the area came to the track & field night and the excitement could be felt throughout the evening.
With the great turnout and support from participants, Vossler says next year he and the other organizers plan to hold the track & field night every Monday in August. He also highlights several individuals who assisted in making this night happen.
The track is currently in a usable condition for upcoming Spring sporting events. However, Vossler says there is more to do in order to keep it in the best condition possible for athletes.
Through the restoration of the Fosston Track there are plans to continue the Kids Track & Field Night on an annual basis.
