Norman-Mahnomen Public Health Reminds Families of Required Immunizations
Ada, MN — While the COVID-19 vaccine is strongly being encouraged amongst students, it is not required. However, there are still a number of vaccines that are required for students depending on their age. That includes Meningococcal, Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella, Polio, and Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many school districts have fallen behind on their immunization records. Aimee Eggen with Norman-Mahnomen Public Health says lately they’ve been reaching out to parents to help their families get caught up on those vaccines before school starts.
Minnesota law requires children enrolled in school to be immunized against certain diseases or file a legal medical or conscientious exemption.
