Mahnomen, MN — Mahnomen County is moving forward with providing their Human Services department with a much-needed new office space. At their most recent meeting, the Mahnomen County Board of Commissioners approved a Capital Improvement Bond for the purchase and remodel of the United Valley Bank for their Human Services department, as well as a partial remodel of courthouse to accommodate their County Attorney and purchase new dispatch equipment for the Sheriff’s Department, according to Mahnomen County Administrator CJ Holl.

Holl estimates that project will go out for bids sometime around the end of the year and begin construction by the spring of 2022.

In other news regarding Human Services, Holl says they are having some preliminary discussions about a possible opportunity to share services with neighboring Norman County.

And with their County Auditor soon retiring, the Mahnomen County Commission is taking advantage of the opportunity to transition that position to an appointed, or hired, position, instead of elected.
