Hillsboro City Commission Approves Policies & Procedures for Beautification Committee

Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro City Commission held their second regular monthly meeting on Monday night, September 20th at the Hillsboro Community Center. At the meeting, the commission held a public hearing for their preliminary 2022 budget. There was no public comment, and Hillsboro Commission President Terry Sando says now they’ll fine tune the final budget for approval later this year.
The commission also moved forward in the formation of Beautification committee as Commissioners Levi Reese presented on their proposed ordinances, policies, and procedures, which was approved by the commission for their first reading.
The beautification committee consists of Commissioners Levi Reese and Mike Kress, as well as community members AJ Anderson, Adam Smeldon, Paul Geray, and Eric Johnson.
On a similar note, the commission addressed the rundown Chicken Scratch Bakery building, which is located just a few doors down from City Hall. Sando says its leading to health hazards, so the city will now move forward with condemning process.

And President Sando, who is on the Airport Committee, provided some updates on the improvements happening out there as well.
The Hillsboro City Commission also approved providing a phone for City Auditor Ashley Frederick, approved a Midco Franchise Agreement, and approved the annual liquor license renewals.
