City of Baxter Approves Preliminary Levy, Continues Road Project Talks in September 21 Council Meeting

(BAXTER, MN) — The city of Baxter held its second regular council meeting of the month of September on Tuesday, so we spoke with Mayor Darrel Olson to get caught up on what’s happening with the city.
Olson began with the topic of the city’s 2022 budget and preliminary levy, which was set at 6.9% during this meeting. As always, that number could potentially go down over the course of the rest of the year, but it cannot go up any further.
In regular business, the city approved construction that will be taking place behind the Toyota on Highway 371.
The council also continued its discussions on parallel corridors to Highway 371.
We thank Mayor Olson for his time. The city of Baxter will hold its next regular council meeting on October 5. Our full conversation with Olson, in which he also briefly discusses projects related to railroad crossings, can be found below.
