(PEQUOT LAKES, MN) — The St. Joseph Foundation, Brainerd, MN, recently awarded a $12,500 Community Health Grant to Lakes Area Food Shelf in Pequot Lakes, MN. The grant will be used to replace both the entrance and exit doors with ADA (Americans With Disability Act of 1990) compliant doors; automatic door plates; and build new thresholds and door ramps.

“The friends and neighbors who use Lakes Area Food Shelf; our volunteers; and the community at large benefit from this grant award. New doors and ramps into and out of the building mean greater safety and greater accessibility for all who visit our community food shelf. We are grateful to the St. Joseph Foundation for its partnership as we work together to build a solid community network for those facing food insecurity,” states Kathy Adams, the Executive Director of the Lakes Area Food Shelf.

In addition to the St. Joseph Foundation award, the Nisswa Lions Club donated $5,000 for this project.
Hy-Tech Construction is scheduled to begin the project later this fall.
