Brainerd Board of Education Seeks Public Input on Name of Level IV Program Building
(Brainerd, MN) As part of the Blueprint 181 long-range comprehensive facilities plan for Brainerd Public Schools, voters approved remodeling the current South Campus. Once complete it will be the home for the district’s Level IV programs: Lincoln Education Center, STARS, and Transitions Plus.
Level (or setting) four students are considered learners who receive education programs in public separate day school facilities, including students for more than 50 percent of the school day in a specially designed facility or program for special education students only.
Please share your idea for what this building should be called. The Board of Education will take the community’s ideas into consideration as they decide on a name.
As a guide for submitted suggestions, we are looking for a name for South Campus that is:
• Inclusive of all programs being provided in the new facility.
• Equitable for all.
• Does not include an individual’s name (other than the legacy name previously held); and
• Specific to our school district.
The Board of Education is requesting input from the community on this question. The public is invited to submit ideas for a name for the new center via a short survey located on blueprint181.org. Name submissions will be accepted through Friday, October 12, 2021.
The results of voting on the top three names will be shared at the October 25, 2021 Board of Education meeting this fall in the boardroom of the Washington Educational Services Building at 804 Oak Street in Brainerd.
