Deerwood City Council review Ironton Police contract, City Code, hires two part-time officers

(Deerwood, MN) — The Deerwood City Council reviewed the Ironton Police contract and looked further into hiring two part-time police officers during their regular meeting from the Deerwood Auditorium Monday, October 4th.

The Council did approve the resolution concerning the Worker’s Compensation Renewal.

Chad Katzenberger did speak to the Council on the Infrastructure Project and issues of standing water along certain roadways.

Deerwood Police Chief Mark Taylor spoke to the Council on the current situation with the Ironton Police contract with the chance of renewal.

The Council did move to allow Mayor Michael Aulie to sign the Ironton Police contract barring any changes to the previous agreement. Chief Taylor also spoke on the potential hiring of two part-time officers for his Department.

The agreement was approved by the Council pending background check and other fulfillments. City Clerk Lee Russell presented to the Council on further changes to the City Code that need to be addressed.

The Council did approve those changes to the City Code.

The Deerwood City Council will next meet at 6pm coming up on Monday, November 1st.
