Ada-Borup-West School Bus Involved in Accident; Four Students Taken to Hospital

Georgetown, MN — Multiple students were injured after a school bus from the Ada-Borup-West School District was involved in an accident Thursday morning.  The accident, which involved a collision with a pickup truck pulling a trailer, happened southwest of Borup and northeast of Georgetown at the intersection of 190th Avenue North and 40th St at around 7:30am Thursday morning. Four students were sent to the hospital with injuries, which were considered non-life threatening. One of the students was transported by AirMed to a Fargo Hospital and the other three were transported by ambulance. The driver of the pickup was also transported to a Fargo with significant, but not life-threatening injuries.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the pickup was traveling northbound on 40th St and it appears the driver failed to yield to the eastbound school bus. The crash remains under investigation.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Sanford Ambulance, Airmed, Red River Regional Dispatch Center, Felton Fire and Rescue, Perley Fire and Rescue, Hendrum Fire and Rescue, Ada Fire and Rescue, Harwood Fire and Rescue, Norman County Ambulance, and passing motorists that assisted the children until emergency crews arrived on scene.
