(Minnesota) — Heading into its third year, Minnesota’s youth deer hunt opens this weekend to coincide with statewide teacher workshops and youth not having school.

According to the release from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the youth deer hunt season runs Thursday, October 21st through Sunday, October 24th. In order for youth to participate, they must be 10-17 years old and have a deer license. Numbers are not limited and there is no special permit, so parents should obtain a regular deer hunting license for the youth who will be hunting.

Other helpful reminders from the DNR include:

Youth ages 10-13 should be accompanied by an adult parent, guardian, or mentor.

Youth hunters and mentors must follow blaze orange/pink clothing requirements.

Adults may not hunt, unless they are in an open area during the early antlerless season and have a corresponding license.

More information on the youth deer hunting season is available on the DNR’s website.
