(BRAINERD, MN) — The city of Brainerd held its first regular council meeting of the month of November on Monday. We reached out to Mayor Dave Badeaux to have our usual chat to catch up.

Badeaux said the meeting was short, but an important item that was discussed was a grant application submitted for Lum Park, as part of a larger collection of changes that could be coming to the park in the future.

The council also continued their discussion on warming houses by presenting the first reading of a proposed new ordinance that could allow warming houses as an interim use.

The second reading of this ordinance and public forum will take place at the next regular city council meeting for Brainerd on November 15.

The city’s parking commission held a workshop recently as well. Badeaux talked about some changes that could be coming to city parking soon as conversations continue in that area.

Looking ahead, the city has some budget workshops planned between now and the end of the year as Badeaux says staff will continue to work toward getting the tax levy down as close to zero as possible.

We thank Mayor Badeaux for his time. Our full interview with him, in which he also discusses a recent event held by people lobbying for a skate park for the city and what possibilities could be in store there, can be found below.
