Erskine, MN — Deer hunting is big business for many small-town communities across the state as hunters leave the comforts of the big city for primitive deer shacks. Gas stations, bars, and cafes are some of those that cash in the most with the influx of those returning back to the Northwoods. Ness Café in Erskine is one of those who greatly looks forward to the deer season. Owner Tommy Helgeson says business picks somewhere between 50 and 60% during the 10-day stretch. He notes that hunters don’t come in as early as they used to, but they always come back to visit their favorite café.

Helgeson says he enjoys getting the chance to hear the stories of hunts either gone right or gone wrong, and appreciates the fact that hunters make the Ness Café part of their hunting tradition.

And whether you’re hunting or not, Helgeson says they’ll have lots of great food and specials lined up for all to enjoy this weekend.

Ness Café is located just south of the railroad tracks in downtown Erskine.
