Brainerd Lakes Salvation Army Gearing Up for Red Kettle Campaign This Holiday Season

(BRAINERD, MN) — With the holiday season fast approaching, it is the most important time of the year for the Brainerd Lakes Salvation Army in its efforts to raise funds, namely through the Red Kettle Campaign. We spoke with Captain Jeff Curran to hear all the details about this year’s campaign.

Curran began by mentioning some of the things the Salvation Army has been observing and doing in the lead-up to the holiday season.

He then moved into discussing the Red Kettle Campaign, which begins on November 18. First, Curran talked about why the campaign is so important to the organization.

The campaign, along with everything that the Salvation Army does, Curran says, only works due to the efforts of volunteers.

The biggest day of the campaign is known as the Day of Caring, in which all funds raised are matched, doubling the amount raised that day. Curran discussed the big day coming up in December.

The Day of Caring, which falls on December 16, also plays into another fundraising effort put on by the Salvation Army during the holiday season: the Angel Tree, which helps provide gifts to young children who otherwise would not be able to receive any this holiday season.

Curran wrapped up by letting everyone know how to get involved with the Red Kettle Campaign or simply reach out to the Brainerd Lakes Salvation Army.

We thank Captain Jeff Curran for his time. Our full conversation with him may be found below.
