Halstad, MN — The Halstad City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, November 8th.  With the final levy for 2022 needing to be approved next month, the council continued budget discussions. Halstad Mayor Darin Johnson says the debated whether or not to move forward with a levy increase, and ultimately decided to do so.

The council also discussed and approved a TIF Loan Forgiveness Resolution for the dental facility, which Johnson says has to do with the dental facility being taken over by a non-profit.

For the last year or so, the City of Halstad has been exploring Rural Water opportunities, which would eliminate the need for their own water treatment and storage facilities. Mayor Johnson provided an update on that project.

And Johnson says there are lots of community events happening in Halstad throughout the next several weeks and he encourages residents to participate.

Also at this week’s meeting, Jessica Spaeth of the Western Norman County Fund made a presentation to the council on their new non-profit.

The Halstad City Council meets next on December 13th, which will also include the annual Truth in Taxation hearing.
