ATV Crash Near Brainerd Airport Kills One, Injures Another
On Thursday November 25, 2021 at approximately 3:43 PM, the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department was notified of an ATV crash with injuries located in a large field west of the Brainerd Airport. Crow Wing County Deputies, Brainerd Police Officers, area First Responders and North Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene. It was discovered that two riders of an ATV were traveling in a northeast direction on the field. The ATV had approached a valley/drainage in the field, went air born, landed at the bottom of the valley/drainage, and rolled multiple times before coming to rest near the top of the north side of valley/drainage.
The driver of the ATV, 18 year old Tashaud Nelson, of Apple Valley, MN was transported by North Aircare to North Memorial Hospital. The passenger on the ATV, 16 year old Isabella Brandt, of Apple Valley, MN was pronounced dead at the scene.
The individuals involved in the ATV crash were not wearing helmets or other protective riding gear at the time of the incident.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department, with the Minnesota State Patrol assisting, is investigating the crash.
