Minnesota – The FSA Offices are now opening up applications for the extension added to the Emergency Assistance for Livestock Program (ELAP). This new addition to the program is to assist in food transportation for livestock that rely on grazing. Due to the drought this past summer, the harsh conditions caused a shortage of local or regional feed for grazing livestock. Nathan Peterson from the FSA Office spoke about what the new addition to ELAP covers.
The application process can be done through a local FSA office. Some office are experiencing low staffing, so FSA requests livestock owners schedule appointment ahead of time. County election ballots should also be completed by December 6th. More information about the ELAP Extension can be found on farmers.gov.
